A native of New Mexico who now lives in Los Angeles, Jessica Bronson (b. 1963) has gained international recognition for gallery installations that combine sculptural elements with video projections or other sources of moving images. Her work addresses a wide range of artistic issues, such as the social meanings of natural forms and the relationship between technology and language. Her installations also reflect her abiding interest in pop music, non-narrative structuralist films and scientific methodology. In the words of Los Angeles Times' critic David Pagel, "Her powerfully original works embrace entertainment as they set you to thinking about the relationship between consciousness and its surroundings." For her PCC exhibition, Jessica Bronson produced a sound and moving-text installation utilizing light emitting diodes that viewers read with their peripheral vision.
