The Noncredit Division offers numerous instructional programs and student support services. It specifically provides instructional programs in the following categories: Adult Basic Education, General Education Development (GED), Adult High School Diploma, English as a Second Language (ESL), Vocational (ESL), Parenting Education, Education Programs for Older Adults, Education Programs for Adults with Disabilities, and 27 short-term Career Technical Education (CTE) programs. The short-term CTE job training programs are: Basic Graphic Design, Business Office Systems, Child Care Provider, Computer Keyboarding, Computer Skills, Family Home Child Care Provider, General Office Clerk, Introduction to Starting a Small Business, Introduction to Legal Interpretation and Translation, Introduction to Medical Interpretation & Translation, Medical Front Office Clerk, Personal Care Attendant, and Pre-Apprenticeship in Building Trades and Construction Industry. Bilingual training programs are also offered in Introduction to Starting a Small Business, Computer Keyboarding and Family Home Child Care Provider. Most noncredit programs are open-entry, open-exit programs, and offered year round. Noncredit courses and programs are offered at 35 different locations in the community.
There are no enrollment fees for noncredit classes. Students pay for course related materials and textbooks.
The mission of the Noncredit Division is to serve a diverse community focusing on capability, flexibility and empowerment. The division offers comprehensive educational resources such as technical and academic programs and courses including Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult High School Diploma Program (AHSD), General Education Development (GED) preparation, English as a Second Language (ESL), Vocational ESL, Parenting Education, courses for adults with disabilities and for older adults, short-term noncredit Career Technical Education (CTE) programs, and a wealth of support programs.
The Noncredit Division's primary mission is to facilitate the Pasadena Area Community College District's overall mission to provide a standard of excellence and high quality instruction toward increasing the numbers of successfully prepared transfer students, and provide a more capable workforce to meet the needs of current trends.
The Noncredit Division at the Community Education Center (CEC) is located at 3035 East Foothill Boulevard in Pasadena, CA, 91107-3106. Major cross streets are San Gabriel Blvd. and Sierra Madre Villa Ave. We are approximately 2 miles east of the main College campus.
