Assuming the Presidency in difficult times,
Casey's primary effort was to reunite and
refocus the campus community which had been
seriously affected by budget cutbacks.
1984 - Casey revised the Administrative
structure, decreasing the number of PCC Vice
Presidents from four to two, in order to streamline
the Administrative process and reduce expenditures.
Enrollment fees ($5/unit) initiated at the
California Community Colleges.
1985 - PCC celebrated its 60th anniversary.
1986 - KPCC transmitter moved to Mt.
Wilson.

"More than a million people have received
the educational benefits of Pasadena City
College! What a tremendous contribution to
the people of the Pasadena Area Community
College District. Of course, the influence
of the college reaches far beyond these local
boundaries. I am constantly amazed and pleased
to find our former students in positions of
prominence all over the world.
But that is our past; what about our future?
Our aspirations and dreams for the future
are consolidated in two words--excellence
and access . . .
Building on the proud heritage of excellence,
we have traditions of quality that are built
into the very fiber of the institution. Taking
these strengths, we are now anticipating a
broader expansion. Through the determination
of specific needs of business and industry,
we are meeting those needs through contract
education, thereby reaching out again to fulfill
our mission of being a community college.
We will never become so broad that we diminish
our ability to continue to do that which we
do best--providing transfer and occupational
courses that are so vital to the future plans
of the students. After all, the student is
our only product." (On the occasion
of the 60th Anniversary)
