"Jim and Rebecca [heart symbol] Painting"
The Pasadena City College Art Gallery is proud to present "Jim and Rebecca [heart symbol] Painting,” Oct. 26 through Dec. 2.
Curated by artists Jim Morphesis and Rebecca Morris, both members of the faculty of Visual Arts and Media Studies at PCC, this exhibition offers a selection of paintings by Southern California based artists of multiple generations. The show includes recent works by Mari Eastman, Merion Estes, Charles Garabedian, Charles Irvin, Pamela Jorden, John Sonsini and Tyler Vlahovich.
“The show features the work of four artists just beginning to make their mark on the art world, and the art of three painters who are well known in the Los Angeles art community,” Morphesis said.
The show also includes work by John Sonsini and Merion Estes. Estes’ work refers directly to nature, while incorporating layers of printed fabrics, collaged materials and passages of painterly virtuosity. Sonsini’s full-figure portrait paintings reflect a balance of gesture and detail creates images that seem alive.
The exhibit runs from Oct. 26 through Dec. 2 in the Pasadena City College Art Gallery. A public reception will be held Thursday, October 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday noon to 4 p.m.
