The Pasadena City College softball team felt it reached an early season low when visiting Santa Barbara City College hammered the Lancers, 11-1, in a 5-inning mercy rule contest on Saturday. The Lancers responded Tuesday in exactly the manner PCC head coach Monica Tantlinger had hoped.

For the past 14 straight seasons, the successful Pasadena City College women's basketball team has earned a spot in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. At their peak, the Lancers had a seven-season period from 2003-2010 when they advanced to the CCCAA State Championship tournament each year. In 2009, PCC won its first state title in all women's sports.

The 1938 Pasadena Junior College football team, featuring the college's greatest alumnus Jackie Robinson, is part of a 2016 class that includes six athletes and two coaches selected to be inducted into the Pasadena City College Sports Hall of Fame. The newest class will be inducted in a special ceremony at the GM Athletics Building scheduled for Sunday, January 24 at 1:30 p.m.

The reference was something first-year head coach Kari Post had been preaching to her players in the past week since the state No. 23-ranked Lancers played poorly in a loss to unranked Cerritos on October 14.
