Pasadena City College women's cross country freshman Christina Elizalde placed 10th with a time of 20 minutes, 39.21 seconds over the 5-kilometer course at the Riverside Flying Tigers Invitational held October 9.

Most of the current Pasadena City College football team roster wasn't born when head coach Thom Kaumeyer last directed a victory at the community college level. Twenty-one years after he coached Palomar College to a bowl title, Kaumeyer, in his first year back in the CCC head coaching ranks, celebrated his first Lancers' win in a 27-16 come-from-behind triumph over East Los Angeles College Saturday night.

The Pasadena City College men's soccer team played a frenetic, hard-nosed 90-plus minutes against the defending CCCAA state champion in Cerritos College, but the Falcons scored in the game's final minute to send the Lancers to a heart-breaking 2-1, South Coast Conference defeat at Robinson Stadium Friday night. The game was pushed back to a later 5 p.m. kickoff due to the high heat index in the San Gabriel Valley.

Lights Go Out On SCC First-Place Volleyball Match

With the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team tied with state No. 6-ranked El Camino 1-1 in sets, the Warriors' gym went dark. In fact, the entire ECC campus suffered a power failure as the match for first place in the South Coast Conference had to be postponed with ECC leading 5-2 in the third set.

With the Pasadena City College women's water polo team leading just 3-2 going into the second half Wednesday, sophomore Sharon Perez took charge by netting three goals over an 11-minute span as the host Lancers defeated East Los Angeles College, 8-4, in a South Coast Conference game.

It is an exciting time for the state No. 21-ranked Pasadena City College women's volleyball team. The Lancers swept Los Angeles Harbor, 25-7, 25-7, 25-9, Wednesday night in a South Coast Conference match at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. PCC (7-3 overall, 2-0 in conference) later learned that one of the teams it had beat a few weeks ago, No. 4-ranked Santa Barbara City College, had knocked off the state's No. 1-ranked and previously undefeated Pierce.

Issued seven yellow cards that resulted in two red card ejections, the Pasadena City College men's soccer team played most of the first half with just 10 players and then were down to nine over the game's final 31 minutes Tuesday at Robinson Stadium. It didn't help matters that the Lancers were facing rival and state No. 5-ranked Mt. San Antonio as the Mounties handed PCC a 4-0 loss in the South Coast Conference opener for both teams.

By upsetting previously state No. 4-ranked Santa Barbara City College on Friday, the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team made a leap on to the CCCWVCA State Top 25 rankings released Monday. The Lancers 4-set win over the Vaqueros was followed by a 5-set thriller loss to San Diego Mesa and a 4-set defeat v. Bakersfield, both teams that are also on the Top 25.

For nearly 55 minutes Saturday night, the winless Pasadena City College football team outplayed the region's No. 2-ranked team and nationally-ranked No. 13 College of the Canyons. The Lancers led 24-14 on a 4-yard touchdown pass by emergency starting sophomore quarterback Marc Peart to letterman linebacker Terry Wilson with 5:25 left in the game.

The Pasadena City College women's volleyball team rallied from a set down and won sets 2 and 3 with wild comebacks to take a 2-1 lead Wednesday night against Ventura. The momentum gained quickly fizzled for the Lancers as the Pirates roared back and scored a 5-set victory over the Lancers, 25-22, 24-26, 22-25, 25-19, 15-8, at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

The 1938 Pasadena Junior College football team, featuring the college's greatest alumnus Jackie Robinson, is part of a 2015-16 class that includes six athletes and two coaches selected to be inducted into the PCC Sports Hall of Fame. The choices were made by the college's HOF committee. The newest class will be inducted in a special ceremony at the GM Athletics Building scheduled for January 24, 2016.
