Due to the wacky power points system that determines postseason seeds for California Community College soccer teams, winning and losing isn't as important as which team you play, especially in non-conference games. So while the Pasadena City College women's soccer team went 0-1-1 in the season-opening Ventura Showcase Tournament August 29-30, the Lancers picked up some valuable power points.

Pasadena City College men's basketball guard Mike Swanegan, an All-South Coast Conference North Division selection from the 2012-13 team, accepted a scholarship to continue his education and playing career at William Penn University (Iowa). Swanegan played for his father, Lancers head coach Michael Swanegan, for two seasons at PCC.

Pasadena City College Athletic Director Tony Barbone challenged the rest of the state's ADs by taking "The Ice Bucket Challenge" on Monday. After leading the Pasadena City College men's soccer team in scoring the past two seasons, forward Luis Flores has joined the professional ranks by becoming a member of the Santa Tecla FC in El Salvador. Santa Tecla plays in that country's First Division.

Inducted into the Pasadena City College Sports Hall of Fame in October of last year, Lancers women's basketball great Dionne Pounds continues to show off her playing talents in Europe. A two-time PCC Women's Athlete of the Year in 2003-04 and 2004-05, Pounds recently led Catz Lappeenranta to its third consecutive Finnish League championship.

Armand Crespo, the school's long-time cross country head coach, was selected to direct the Pasadena City College men's and women's track and field teams for the 2014-2015 school year, effective immediately.  Crespo is now head coach for four of the PCC's 16 intercollegiate athletics program.

Pasadena City College Athletics announced that Dr. Michael McClellan will now lead the area's intercollegiate sports eligibility office as an associate athletic director in charge of compliance. McClellan will work in concert with PCC Athletic Director Tony Barbone.
