For the Pasadena City College men's track and field team, the various accomplishments of the regular season didn't parlay as well at the CCCAA State Championship meet May 18-19 at College of San Mateo. The Lancers settled for a tie for 22nd place out of 38 colleges who scored points after scoring fifth at the SoCal Championships.

Omhunique Browne completed her own triple crown Saturday by becoming the first Pasadena City College women's track and field athlete to win two state titles at the CCCAA State Championships held at College of San Mateo. Though there were 35 participants on day one of the CCCAA Women’s Badminton State Championships on Friday, all eyes were focused on two in a marquee singles quarterfinal matchup in Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. In the recent history of Pasadena City College women's swimming going back to the 1990s, the Lancers had never seen one of their student-athletes own a South Coast Conference record. That was until Friday when freshman Shannon Cheung broke a 13-year-old conference record and set a new PCC school record in winning the 200-yard individual medley at the SCC Championships held at Chaffey College. Cheung's 2-minute, 8.51 seconds time shattered the previous conference record of 2:10.46 set in 2000 by Golden West's Micah Burden.

It was a harmless hit, or so it seemed. In the second inning, with runners on second and third and two outs, Pasadena City College baseball team leftfielder Kori Grant hit a short pop that fell about 30 feet from home plate. The speedy Grant beat out the throw to first by Cerro Coso pitcher Roberto Hernandez for an infield single. In the process rightfielder Anthony Martinez crossed the plate from third followed moments later by hustling centerfielder Charles Smith, who scored all the way from second base.

While the Lancers have had some seen throwers, jumpers and middle distance runners excel over the years, PCC hasn't really cultivated a truly great sprinter. The Lancers struggled for victories (27) spread out each in three straight nine-win years under three different head coaches. The South Coast Conference competition was even worse for the Lancers, who have won only 12 league games during that period.

B.J. Rosary, a reserve guard for two seasons on the Pasadena City College men's basketball team, will continue his education and playing career at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. Gor Kirakosyan, tied for fifth in all-time scoring for the Pasadena City College men's soccer program, accepted a scholarship to continue his education/playing career at NCAA Division I University of California, Irvine. The two-year Lancers' letterman led both the 2009 and 2011 PCC squads in goals scored. Last year, the forward scored 14 goals and added six assists in being named All-South Coast Conference First Team.

Stevie Myers, a long-time equipment assistant for the Pasadena City College intercollegiate athletic teams, has passed away at the age of 55. Myers died at his home this past weekend. Although details of his death were not released, Myers experienced an on-going battle with diabetes.

Kevin Dultz, a member of the 2007 and 2008 Pasadena City College baseball teams, signed a free agent minor league contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks in late April. He is currently playing as a catcher for Arizona's Advanced Rookie League team, the Missoula Osprey (Montana).

Edino Steele, the 2006-2007 Pasadena City College Men's Athlete of the Year, has accomplished his goal of qualifying to take part in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. Steele, one of PCC's greatest track and field sprinters, will race for his home country of Jamaica on its 4x400 meter relay team.
