Pasadena City College has selected Mike Terrill as its new women's volleyball head coach pending PACCD Board of Trustees approval next month. It is the first head coaching position for Terrill, who has served as a top assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level for the past seven years.

Pasadena City College baseball coach Pat McGee announced today that six players or 75 percent from his 2016 Lancers sophomore class have committed to 4-year universities. The two remaining sophomores are still mulling scholarship offers from a few institutions, according to McGee.

Tony Barbone, Pasadena City College's athletic director, will be honored as a new inductee to the San Gabriel Valley Hall of Fame. Barbone will be part of the festivities at the 21st SGV All-Star Baseball Game for high school seniors on Sunday, June 5 at Ben Hines Field at the University of La Verne. The game begins at 3:30 p.m.

Kari Post, Pasadena City College's part-time acting head coach for women's volleyball this past season, has announced she is resigning to accept a head coaching job at another college in Northern California. Post directed the Lancers to a 14-9 season and a spot in the SoCal Playoffs in 2015. She was an assistant coach in two previous seasons at PCC.

There was no player more disappointed on the first two days of the CCCAA State Badminton Championships than Pasadena City College's Rebecca Tzou. The sophomore was hoping to perform a magical triple in titles. But first she saw her Lancers lose in the state team final, 11-10, against Fresno City on Thursday. Then on Friday, poised to repeat as a state individual doubles champion, she didn't even get the chance to defend the crown as partner Sandra Maw suffered an injury before their first match that resulted in the duo being eliminated from the competition.

It was looking like a state women's badminton title was finally coming to Pasadena City College. After trailing for much of the CCCAA State Team Championship Team Final v. North champion Fresno City College and down 9-8, the Lancers appeared to be in position to win during the last round of doubles Thursday.

For only the second time in its program's history, the Pasadena City College women's badminton team advanced to a state championship final. The Lancers are looking to make school history Thursday, May 12 at 3 p.m. as they play Fresno City College in the state team final at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. The Lancers have never won the state team title since women's badminton became a California Community College intercollegiate sport in 2000.

The Pasadena City College women's swim team didn't start out the 2016 CCCAA Swimming and Diving State Championships well, but the Lancers finished on a high note thanks to the speedy performances of freestyler Ariahn Givens. PCC placed 12th in the state meet held for the sixth straight year at East Los Angeles College's Swim Stadium May 5-7.

Michael Cooper, a Pasadena City College Hall of Fame men's basketball legend and later a NBA top defensive wizard for the Los Angeles Lakers, is returning to PCC as the head coach of the WNBA's Atlanta Dream. On Saturday, May 7, Cooper's Dream squad plays the Los Angeles Sparks in an exhibition game at PCC's Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. Tip-off is 4 p.m.

The Pasadena City College softball team closed out the 2016 season at .500 with a 20-20 overall record but the machine-like, on-base streak of shortstop Karina Moreno still has Lancers fans wanting more. The freshman reached base her final eight times at bat, including a 3-for-3 hitting game in a 6-1, season-ending loss against Cerritos Tuesday at Robinson Park.

With its 21-0 win over El Camino College-Compton Center on Friday, the Pasadena City College women's badminton team clinched at least a tie for the program's 12th South Coast Conference title. It's the second consecutive crown for second-year head coach Jennifer Ho, who has compiled an impressive 22-1 overall record thus far in her career. The Lancers also extended their SCC winning streak to 19 matches under Ho's leadership.

In the first 63 games of his tenure as head coach for the Pasadena City College baseball team, Pat McGee never let a pitcher go the distance until Tuesday when Isaac Holguin accomplished all nine innings in a 10-2 Lancers win. On Thursday, Chris Brown made it back-to-back complete game efforts as he scattered 10 hits in PCC's 8-2 win at El Camino College-Compton Center.

PCC hit the 20-victory mark for the second straight season Wednesday as the Lancers rallied from down 4-2 to mercy visiting Glendale, 13-5, in six innings in an non-conference game at Robinson Park.

Isaac Holguin scattered eight hits and retired the last 13 batters in order to throw the first complete-game victory by a Pasadena City College baseball pitcher in eight years on Tuesday as the Lancers defeated El Camino College-Compton Center, 10-2. The South Coast Conference game was played at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Memorial Field.

Rarely has a Pasadena City College athlete competed in the grueling decathlon in men's track and field. But this year, Lancer freshman Kevin Chu showed his athletic versatility and performed in the SoCal Decathlon Championships April 5-6 at Cerritos College.

The 16th Pasadena Invitational continued the meet's traditon of bringing out the best in swimmers across the state as evidenced by the 27 meet records broken in the past two years of the event, including nine at this year's meet. The PCC women's team didn't set a record but it did perform its highest finish ever in its host event by taking fourth place out of 22 teams.

It came down to the final event, and that's how close it was for the Pasadena City College women's swim team Friday as the Lancers saw their South Coast Conference dual meet winning streak snapped at 18. PCC lost to Mt. San Antonio by the slimmest of margins, 138-136, as the Mounties also won the conference dual title over the defending champion Lancers.

Head coach Pat McGee needed one of his sophomores to step up Saturday if the Pasadena City College baseball team was going to snap a 7-game losing streak and give the team some hope after a 0-5 start to South Coast Conference play. Letterman first baseman Joe Quire played the role of Mr. Clutch and rallied the Lancers to a 6-5, 11-inning win over host El Camino.

Leading 14-6 after the first seven minutes Wednesday, the No. 14-seeded Pasadena City College women's basketball team appeared focused in its quest to advance to the regional finals and beyond. But No. 6 East Los Angeles had revenge on its mind from a 24-point home loss to the Lancers on Feb. 12. The Huskies defense and rebounding took over while PCC's offense went cold as the Lancers season came to an end, 58-45, in Round 3 of the SoCal Regional Playoffs.

Last year's South Coast Conference champion Pasadena City College women's badminton squad earned the 2014-15 CCCAA Scholar Team award for its sport. It is the first time that a PCC team picked up the honor in 13 years and the third time that Lancers badminton won the award.

SAC pulled away for a 55-43 win at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
