Lancers' Football Places 7 At Next Level

After posting a 7-4 season and a victory at the Tremblay Financial Services Bowl in 2008, the Pasadena City College football team has placed seven players at four-year universities, according to Acting Head Coach James Kuk. PCC had a primarily freshmen team in '08 with just 13 sophomores on the roster.

PCC To Host LA Sparks' Practice At Hutto-Patterson Gym June 17

As part of a fundraiser by the Pasadena City College women's basketball program, the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks will participate in a private practice at PCC's Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium on Wednesday, June 17 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

PCC 2009 Football Schedule Released

The Pasadena City College football team begins its second season in the National Northern Conference in 2009 as the Lancers will play the same 10 opponents as they did in the 2008 regular season. PCC will flip-flop its home and road schedules from last year when the team finished 7-4 and won the Tremblay Services Bowl.

The Kinesiology, Health and Athletics Division has named women's basketball sophomore Kinyada Johnson and men's sophomore swimmer Tai Nuntapramote as the Pasadena City College Athletes of the Year for the 2008-2009 sports season.

Beverly Tate Named PCC's Permanent Dean/Athletic Director Of KH&A Division

Twenty-two months after being selected to lead the division, Beverly Tate can drop the interim tag off her title as she was chosen Pasadena City College's permanent division dean and athletic director of the Kinesiology, Health & Athletics Division. Tate was confirmed at Wednesday night's PCC Board of Trustees meeting.

Stan Gray Bust Ceremony Set For May 21

Three years after his name was dedicated to Pasadena City College's student-athlete counseling center, the late Stan Gray will be honored by PCC with a bust of his image. The unveiling of the bust will take place Thursday, May 21 at 1:30 p.m. in a ceremony at the Stan Gray Academic Athletic Zone.

Track and Field's Smith Takes 9th At State Meet

Pasadena City College sprinter Deandre Smith placed ninth and out of a state medal Saturday in the 200 meters during the CCCAA Track and Field Championships at College of San Mateo. Smith's 21.67 time trailed the winner of the race, Southwestern's Curtis Mitchell at 20.58.

Men's Track Sprinter DeAndre Smith Makes CCCAA Meet

Pasadena City College sprinter DeAndre Smith ran a season-best 21.27 seconds to finish fifth in the 200 meters at the Southern California Championships Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College. Smith's time was good enough to secure the ninth and final spot for this weekend's CCCAA Championships at College of San Mateo May 15-16.

Roderick Martinez Only Lancer On All-SCC First/Second Baseball Team

A lean season that saw the Pasadena City College baseball team finish 8-31 overall and just 3-21 in the league play netted just one Lancer on the 2009 All-South Coast Conference First and Second Teams. Centerfielder Roderick Martinez, a sophomore, was selected to the All-SCC Second Team as PCC's lone representative in choices made May 2 by conference coaches.

CF Rangel Lone Lancer On All-SCC Softball Team

Freshman centerfielder Marissa Rangel was the only Pasadena City College player to be selected to the 2009 All-South Coast Conference Women's Softball Team, making the second squad. Rangel is a rare double-sport, all-conference player as she also made the women's volleyball All-SCC First Team in 2008 as the Lancers' starting libero.

Kinyada Johnson Named CCCAA March Athlete Of Month

Pasadena City College sophomore point guard Kinyada Johnson was named the CCCAA Athlete of the Month for March after leading the Lancers to the state title. A First: Softball Captures Golden West Tournament Title With 5 Wins

For 27 seasons from 1979-2006, the Pasadena City College softball program was run by retired legend Sandi Iverson, who coached the Lancers to six conference championships and 562 career victories. Over the weekend, PCC third-year coach Elaine Martinez directed the Lancers to something never accomplished under Iverson, who also coached Martinez for two seasons at PCC.

Former Softball Conference MVP Roisin Courtney-Eriksen Passes Away

Roisin Eriksen, a conference MVP from the 1985 Pasadena City College softball team, died June 7 after a six-year bout with breast cancer. Eriksen, who played two seasons for the Lancers under her then maiden name Courtney in 1984-85, was coached by retired PCC instructor Sandi Iverson.
