PCC's Ayers Named NNC Defensive Player of the Week

PCC's Ayers Named NNC Defensive Player of the Week image Pasadena City College freshman safety/linebacker Kevin Ayers was named the SCFA National Northern Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Lancers' 35-30, season-opening loss at Mt. San Antonio College Sept. 5Ayers, a 6-2, 200-pounder from Lynwood High, was impressive in his collegiate debut as he recorded a PCC and game-high 10 tackles, forced a fumble, had a 15-yard sack on a blitz, and made a 21-yard interception return for a TD that gave PCC a brief 13-7 lead with 3:32 to go in the first half. He is the younger brother of UCLA linebacker Akeem Ayers. Ayers and the rest of the Lancers look to get on the win board Saturday, Sept. 12 when PCC hosts El Camino College Compton Center in a 6 p.m. kickoff at Robinson Stadium.
