Woes Continue For Men's Soccer
The Pasadena City College men's soccer team saw its season-long losing streak extended to five games Monday when it dropped a 5-1 decision against visiting San Diego City College. The Lancers have never gone this deep into a season without a victory. Last year, PCC advanced to the third round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs and finished 15-6-1.
PCC has been outscored, 22-3, in its five matches. On Sept. 11, the team suffered its worst margin defeat since 1999 in a 6-0 loss at Oxnard College. The most lopsided loss in school history was a 9-0 defeat against Santa Ana that opened the '99 season.
Against SDCC, PCC played to a scoreless tie by halftime before giving up four goals in a 14-minute span early during the second half. Devin Garcia scored 2 goals and added an assist in the scoring flurry. PCC snapped the shutout in the 63rd minute on a goal by Hrant Narinyan (freshman midfielder, Burbank High) from an assist by Justin Gener (frosh defender, Bishop Amat).
Goalie Ivan Rodriguez (freshman, Mountain View) recorded 6 saves.
The Lancers next host College of the Sequoias Tuesday, Sept. 22 in a 4 p.m. non-conference match at Robinson Stadium.
