Women's VB Holds ELAC To 28 Points In SCC Opener
Ranked No. 12 in the state Top 25 poll, the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team made quick work of host East Los Angeles College, 25-11, 25-8, 25-9, Friday night in the South Coast Conference opener for both teams. The win was the Lancers (7-1) sixth in a row.Frosh outside hitter Patti Blasco was efficient with 10 kills in just 12 attempts while freshman outside hitter Chelsea Umana added 5 kills in 9 attempts. Libero Marissa Rangel added 19 digs and 4 aces and reserve defensive specialist Anita Wang had 3 aces. Setter Jessica Xu contributed 23 assists and 3 aces.
Since losing the first game of its Sept. 9 match v. Victor Valley, the Lancers have won 15 straight games during five victories. The team has won 21 of 25 sets overall, and PCC has six sweeps among the seven victories.
PCC next hosts LA Harbor College Wednesday, Sept. 23 in a 6 p.m. SCC match at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
