Pasadena City College women's water polo head coach Terry Stoddard saw his Lancers make a giant improvement Friday with a pair of victories at the Cabrillo College Tournament. PCC downed Ohlone, 15-3, before knocking off Diablo Valley, 6-4, to up its season record to 3-5.

Leading the team v. Ohlone was Jade Wilia, who scored 5 goals in just 7 shot attempts, and Merry Sanders (pictured), who added 4 goals. Shannon Adams added 3 goals while Anneke Forrest (2 assists), Nicole Young, and Matiana Coulson added single goals.

Goalie Hannah Hogue made 6 saves and contributed 3 assists with 3 steals.

In the win over Diablo Valley, the Lancers used a perfect shooting game by Adams, who scored the 3-goal hattrick for the second straight match. Wilia added 2 goals and Sanders scored on a penalty shot. The three sophomores are PCC's tri-team captains. Hogue added 9 saves and 4 steals. Forrest dished out 3 assists. PCC led 6-2 after three quarters and went to its bench in controlling the match.

"We established the ability to change our attack, and make adjustments to find a different go-to player," Stoddard said. "We were able to move players into a set and Adams took advantage in the second match. Forrest is stepping up her play on the defensive end. We played our best all-around matches of the season."

PCC concludes Cabrillo Tournament play Saturday, Sept. 26 with matches against Merced (10:30 a.m.) and Cuesta (2:45 p.m.).
