Nine Different Players Score In WWP Rout Over Trade Tech, 22-1
The Pasadena City College women's water polo team spread the wealth in its 22-1, South Coast Conference win at Los Angeles Trade Tech College Wednesday. The Lancers (4-7, 2-1 in SCC play) had all nine of their field players score goals.Freshmen drivers Meghan York (Crescenta Valley High) and Darly Htike (Alhambra) each led PCC with 4 goals each. Sophomore Matiana Coulson (Christ Centered Pasadena Christian) and freshman Anneke Forrest (Temple City) each added 3 goals.
Nicole Young (San Marino), Brianna Estrada (Birmingham) and top offensive player Jade Wilia (Glendale) added 2 goals each, while both Shannon Adams (Alhambra) and Merry Sanders (Arcadia) picked up single goals. Forrest and Sanders tallied 3 assists a piece. Goalie Hannah Hogue (Temple City) made 7 saves before Wilia (1 save) played the final quarter with Hogue moving to offense.
Coulson made 5 of PCC's 14 steals, 2 of those leading directly to goals.
At the Cabrillo Tournament Sept. 25-26, the Lancers followed two wins on the first day with a pair of defeats the final day, 10-3 to Merced and 7-4 against Cuesta. Hogue was superb in the Cuesta defeat with 14 saves and 4 steals.
Next for the Lancers is a SCC match Wednesday, October 7 against visiting Rio Hondo. Game time is 3 p.m. at the Aquatic Center.
On October 9-10, the Lancers host the 9th Pasadena Bowl tournament. PCC will play Friday matches against Cuesta (12:20 p.m.) and Diablo Valley (3:50 p.m.), then Saturday games v. Orange Coast (11:20 a.m.) and Citrus (1:40 p.m.). Defending CCCAA state champion Cerritos also plays in the 6-team, 2-day tourney.
