Halfway Mark: Football Team High In SCFA Statistical Categories image At the midway point of the 2009 season, The Pasadena City College football team is rated high in several team categories and have a few players atop individual areas in the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) current statistics.PCC is 3-2 overall and 0-1 in National Northern Conference play. The Lancers are ranked 15th in this week's regional state poll. PCC is No. 28 in the JC Dirty 30 Rankings for the nation. Statistically, the Lancers are No. 2 in the region in passing offense at 301.6 yards per game. PCC is No. 6 in total defense at 240 yards allowed, and No. 8 in pass defense at 166.8 yards allowed. The team's rushing defense is ninth at 73.2 yards given up. PCC is No. 10 in total offense at 380.8 yards average gained. The team's 106 first downs accomplished is seventh out of 37 teams. The Lancers are No. 8 in scoring at 36.6 points per game. On special teams, PCC is 10th in net punting yards at 33.2 per kick. Individually, sophomore cornerback Taurus D'Antignac is tied for the region lead in interceptions with 5. Freshman defensive end Ahkeem Mckinney leads all players in tackles for loss with 13 and frosh teammate and safety Kevin Ayers is second with 12. Both player have 5 quarterback sacks to lead PCC. Sophomore quarterback Nick Ponce is No. 2 in the region in both passing yards average (292.8) and total offense (292.5). His 66.4 percent accuracy (85 completions in 128 passes) is also second overall. Sophomore wide receiver Sean Carraway is tied for No. 4 in receiving with 33 receptions for 418 yards and 4 touchdowns. Freshman utility back Reuben Thomas is sixth in scoring with 8 touchdowns. PCC is the most penalized team in the region, averaging 125.2 yards per game with 76 penalties overall. The next most penalized team (Fullerton) has 65 penalties. The Lancers are not protecting their quarterbacks well, having allowed 23 sacks, second most in the SCFA. PCC hosts Ventura College Saturday, October 10 in a 1 p.m. kickoff at Robinson Stadium.
