PCC Women's X-Country 5th At Brubaker Invitational

The Pasadena City College women's cross country team ran to a fifth place finish out of 11 scoring teams at the Howard Brubaker Invitational in Orange County held October 10.

Freshman Tracee van der Wyk, recovering from the flu, finished in a team-best 18th place individually with a time of 20 minutes, 19 seconds in the 5-kilometer race. Abby Read (pictured) crossed the line in 32nd place at 21:12.6.

Then in a pack, PCC's Ashley Hernandez took 45th (21:52.9), Marissa Morales was 46th (21:54.1), and Lidia Garcia 48th (21:55.8). Also in the 104-runner field, Rebecca Nunez placed 82nd at 25:20.1.

In the men's 4-mile run, PCC took 10th place out of 13 teams, led by sophomore Ernesto Rodriguez in 22nd place at 21:04.3. The Lancers next fastest runner was Will Zentmyer in 53rd at 21:49.8. Next was Antero Barrentes (74th, 22:35.8), followed by McKinley Murphy (83rd, 23:04.3), Kevin Cano (89th, 23:36.2), and Herminio Flores (95th, 24:01).

Rosello de Guzman trailed in 125th at 28:03.8 out of 129 runners. Coached by Armand Crespo, the Lancers teams participate Friday, October 16 in the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational Meet held in Walnut. The races begin at 10 a.m.
