Claudia Garcia picked the right time to score her first goal of the season as the Pasadena City College women's soccer team broke its recent offensive slump by beating host East Los Angeles College, 2-0, Friday in a South Coast Conference match. Garcia, a freshman midfielder from Garfield High, blasted in a shot from 20 yards out in the 22nd minute to end a 213-minute scoreless stretch by the Lancers (including three shutout losses). Three minutes into the second half, PCC would score again as Lisa Kelley kicked it to Melissa Fudge, who then sent a cross pass to Molly Pink, who netted her fifth goal of the year. Goalie Yvette Hernandez made four saves to pick up her third shutout. PCC improved to 7-8-1 and 4-5-1 in the conference. The Lancers host powerful Mt. San Antonio College Tuesday, November 3 in a 3 p.m. match at Robinson Stadium.
