Four PCC Defensive Players Make All-NNC Football First Team
While the team's 5-5 finish didn't make much of an impact, the National Northern Conference coaches recognized the strength of the Pasadena City College football defense in 2009 by naming four Lancers to the All-NNC First Team Defense.
Leading tackler and sophomore linebacker Jeremy Aguilar was one of just three overall unanimous choices to that squad, which means he will be placed on the All-State team. Freshman defensive end Ahkeem Mckinney, sophomore safety Julius Harris, and sophomore linebacker Roman Pula joined Aguilar on the conference's first team.
Mckinney led the team in sacks with 9.5 to go with 60 tackles, Harris made 70 tackles and had 4 interceptions, and Pula was second on the team with 72 tackles plus 2 interceptions. Aguilar was outstanding all season with 95 tackles, a team-best 8 quarterback hurries, 2 sacks, 4 pass knockdowns, 2 fumble recoveries, and an interception.
Named to the All-NNC Second Team Defense was sophomore cornerback Taurus D'Antignac, who led the squad in interceptions with 5.
On offense, sophomore wide receiver Sean Carraway, who had the second highest receptions total in PCC history with 65, freshman offensive tackle Bradley Henderson, and frosh all-purpose player Reuben Thomas (team-high 15 touchdowns) were selected to the All-NNC Second Team Offense.
