PCC Soccer Alum Movsisyan Helps Real Salt Lake Win MLS Cup
Yura Movsisyan didn't win a title in his only season at Pasadena City College in 2005, but the now 22-year-old professional captured the ultimate prize in Major League Soccer as he helped Real Salt Lake win the MLS Cup Sunday over the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Movsisyan didn't figure in the scoring (Real Salt Lake tied 1-1, then won on penalty kicks, 5-4) but started and played most of the game for the Utah franchise. During the season, he was the team's second-leading scorer with 8 goals and 3 assists.
Earlier in the playoffs, he assisted on a goal in the 88th minute that helped Real Salt Lake beat Columbus, 1-0.
Movsisyan was an All-South Coast Conference performer for the Lancers in '05 when he scored a team-leading 19 goals.
Against the Galaxy, Movsisyan played against the sport's most heralded star in David Beckham. The teams played before a crowd of 46,011 at Seattle's Rio Tinto Stadium.
