Women's Basketball Spreads The Wealth, All 13 Players Score In ELAC Win
No one was left off the scoreboard Friday night as the Pasadena City College women's basketball team received points from all 13 of its players in a 79-56, South Coast Conference North Division victory at East Los Angeles College.
PCC improved to 22-4 overall and 5-2 in conference.
Eleven players had tallied points during the first half as PCC built a 42-21 lead over the Huskies. In the second half, a bank shot by reserve center Lora Benedetti and a pair of made free throws by frosh backup guard Tiffany Deramus completed the Lancers scoring connection.
A hot Anna Shahinian, who hit three consecutive 3-pointers in the first half, led PCC with 16 points plus 4 assists and 4 steals. Kim Smith added 12 points and 3 steals while Dominique Scott contributed 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals. Reserve guard Tawney Kim sank a pair of 3-pointers to finish with 6 points.
For ELAC (10-16, 1-5 in conference), Miriam Hernandez led her team with 18 points and 9 rebounds.
PCC closes the regular season Wednesday, Feb. 17 when it renews its rivalry with Mt. San Antonio College in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
