PCC Student Athletic Trainer Wins CATA YouTube Video Contest

Albert Galvan, a former Pasadena City College student athletic trainer, has won the 2010 California Athletic Trainers Association (CATA) YouTube Video Contest. Galvan produced a video involving other student trainers and members of the PCC men's soccer team designed to show the value and need for such people associated with intercollegiate athletics.

Galvan, who transferred from PCC to Cal State Northridge, now works a clinical rotation at PCC under the supervision of the college's two certified head athletic trainers Patty Gallego and Rudy Aguilar.

Athletic trainers are health care professionals who specialize in the provision of physical medicine and rehabilitation services, serving as physician extenders in the prevention, assessment and treatment of acute and chronic injuries and illnesses.

Trainers are required to be present at all California Community College athletic events.
