Cross Country's Zentmyer Impresses Again At UC Irvine Invitational
For the second consecutive week, Pasadena City College men's cross country sophomore Will Zentmyer crossed the finish among the top 50 runners in a race dominated by four-year university racers. Zentmyer took 45th place, 26:23.9 time, out of 238 runners at the UC Irvine Invitational Saturday.
Pasadena finished 17th place out of 19 scoring teams. PCC and El Camino, ninth place and featuring the eventual race champion in David Cardona, were the only two community college teams taking part in the event.
Following Zentmyer for the Lancers were Chris Le (139th, 28:09), Richard Zarazua (147th, 28:16), Enmanuel Vera (150th, 28:23), Herminio Flores (176th, 29:10), Steven Zarazua (188th, 29:34), Gilbert Ramirez (190th, 29:35), and Danny Verdin (223rd, 32:20).
WOMEN'S RESULTS AT UC IRVINE INVITATIONAL
The Lancers placed 13th out of 15 scoring teams and joined San Diego Mesa (11th) as the only other community college team participating at UCI. PCC's Elizabeth Lyons took 72nd overall (out of 158 racers) with a 20:47 mark. She was followed by Cassandra Lew (78th, 20:53), Raquele Cardozo (89th, 21:08), Marissa Morales (128th, 22:40), and Natasha Nicholson (140th, 23:44).
The Pasadena teams next take part in the UC Riverside Invitational Saturday, Sept. 18. The event begins at 7:30 a.m.
