Forrest Leads Eight Different Lancers Goal Scorers In 16-1 Rout Over LATT
Sophomore Anneke Forrest scored seven goals to lead eight Lancers reaching the scoreboard in the Pasadena City College women's water polo team's 16-1 shellacking over visiting Los Angeles Trade Tech Wednesday afternoon.
Pasadena evened its South Coast Conference record to 2-2 and upped its overall mark to 5-7. LA Trade Tech remains winless at 0-4, 0-4.
Forrest scored 25 seconds into the match and had the hat trick by the 3:59 mark as PCC went on to take a 6-0 first-quarter lead. The Temple City High grad has taken the team lead in scoring with 19 goals.
Sophomore Nicole Young added three goals and three assists while Fernanda Camacho had a goal and two helpers. Both Brianna Estrada and Darly Htike contributed a goal and an assist. Freshmen drivers Rebecca Iraheta, Sandra Rios (plus two steals), and Lisa Munoz also fired in goals.
Overall, PCC was efficient shooting, scoring on 16 of 22 attempts for a .727 percentage. The team's defense made 12 steals and goalie Hannah Hogue had a quiet day with three saves.
The Lancers and head coach Terry Stoddard host the 10th Pasadena Bowl Tournament Friday-Saturday, October 8-9 at the Aquatic Center. PCC will play four matches, beginning with a 10:10 a.m. contest Friday against Orange Coast, then a 3:50 p.m. game v. Diablo Valley. On Saturday, PCC faces Cuesta (9 a.m.) and Citrus (2:20 p.m.).
