An All-Southern California Region selection last year as a freshman, returning goalie Hannah Hogue has had to work hard to match her record-setting ways on the Pasadena City College women's water polo team.

In 2009, Hogue set a PCC record for most saves in a season and in a career with 277. She continued to build on her career mark Wednesday as she made nine saves and recorded two steals in limiting the state's No. 2-ranked Long Beach City College squad to nine in-play scores in the Lancers' 11-0 home loss.

Hogue three times stopped point-blank opportunities. Two of the goals she allowed came on 5-meter penalty shots. Long Beach fired 27 shots overall toward the PCC netminder. Hogue's career mark stands now at 477 saves in 47 matches played.

Long Beach improved to 17-3 and 5-1 in South Coast Conference play. The Lancers are 6-15 and now 2-3 in conference games.

Pasadena has struggled offensively this season, scoring 100 goals in 21 matches thus far for a 4.76 goals per match. Since a win over LA Trade Tech, 16-1, on Oct. 6, the team has tallied just 20 goals in the last nine matches, winning once during the stretch.

Against Long Beach, the Lancers were stopped twice on saves by LBCC goalie Lindsay Smith. PCC driver Fernanda Camacho just missed scoring on a fourth-quarter shot that deflected off the right post.

At the Citrus Tournament, Oct. 15-16, PCC snapped a six-game losing streak by downing El Camino, 7-2. The Lancers went 1-3 at Citrus after losing their four games at the 10th Pasadena Bowl Tournament on Oct. 8-9. In the El Camino victory, Nicole Young scored two goals and added three assists while both Brianna Estrada and Anneke Forrest netted two goals each. Hogue made seven saves.

PCC next plays Wednesday, Oct. 27 at Chaffey College in a 3 p.m. conference match. The Lancers host the Pasadena Mini Tournament on Friday, Oct. 29. A SCC match against Rio Hondo on Oct. 13 had to be rescheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Palm Park Pool in Whittier (2:30 p.m. start).
