Volleyball Gets an A for Aces In Sweep Over Trade Tech
It took the state No. 4-ranked Pasadena City College women's volleyball team just 47 minutes to post a sweep over winless Los Angeles Trade Tech, 25-6, 25-12, 25-4, Friday night in a South Coast Conference match at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
The Lancers (16-3, 8-1 in SCC play) served their way through the match as they recorded 17 aces, six by sophomore setter Danielle Stewart. The transfer rifled four consecutive aces to begin the third game. In the first game, she served two aces during a sideout in which PCC opened the match with 12 straight points.
Stewart added 30 assists in the Lancers' sixth straight victory. Outside hitter Markisha Richie led all players with nine kills in just 13 attempts while outside hitter Aliyyah Abdullah contributed eight kills, five aces, and six digs. Middle blocker Kirsten Taylor made eight kills and three aces. Opposite Miranda Doing slammed six kills and libero Jessica Vargas had 10 digs.
LA Trade Tech (0-12, 0-9) brought just six players to the PCC match and was led by Justina Romo with three kills, five digs and an ace.
