Bench Ignites Men's Cagers Rout Over ASU, 106-58
The final bench scoring by the Pasadena City College men's basketball team Friday was jaw-dropping. The Lancers' reserves totaled 67 points as PCC posted a 106-58 blow out over American Sports University of San Bernardino in the opening round of the first Pasadena Thanksgiving Classic at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
The Lancers (4-2) face Barstow in the championship semifinals Saturday, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. If PCC wins that contest, it would face the winner of El Camino College Compton Center and Santa Monica on Sunday at 5 p.m. in the title game.
Sophomore forward Marcus Harvey came off the bench to score 25 points and grab 10 rebounds while Evan Brooks fired in six 3-point baskets as part of his 22 points. Sophomore backup guard Antoine Bryan added eight points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists. James Owens contributed eight points.
For the Lancers starters, shooting guard Shawn Hampton knocked down 18 points and center Jarrett Clofer added 11 points and seven rebounds.
In other Pasadena TC games, Santa Monica 92, Long Beach City 77, El Camino Compton Center 87, Moorpark 83, and Barstow 89, Occidental JV 40.
Saturday's schedule: 8 a.m.--Long Beach v. Moorpark; 10 a.m.--ASU v. Occidental JV; 12 noon--Santa Monica v. El Camino Compton Center; 2 p.m.--PCC v. Barstow.
