Sports in the NewsWomen's Cagers Fire Away in 2nd Half Of 77-37 Win Over Las Positas
The Pasadena City College women's basketball team owned the second half of its 77-37 win over Las Positas in the opening round of the San Jose City College Lady Jaguar Classic Monday. The Lancers (11-2) led just 30-25 after the first 20 minutes, but a spree of 3-point baskets by frosh forward Vera Machado and reserve guard Kim Wong helped break it open. PCC outscored Las Positas, 47-12, in the second half. Machado (pictured) led all scorers with 22 points (four 3-pointers) while sophomore center Dominique Scott tallied 10 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots. Tonisha Lacey added eight points and 10 rebounds and Marquetta Stokes notched nine points. Pasadena faces Santa Rosa Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the championship semifinals.
