Hampton Receives 2nd All-SCC Selection For Men's Hoops image

Sophomore guard Shawn Hampton was the only Pasadena City College men's basketball team selection to the 2011 All-South Coast Conference First Team. Hampton led PCC in several statistical categories, including scoring at 18.8 points per game. It was Hampton's second consecutive selection as All-SCC after making the Second Team in 2010.

In 26 games, Hampton (pictured) averaged 3.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and led the team in steals with 35 (1.3 per game). He was the squad's leader in field goals made, field goals attempted, free throws made, and free throws attempted. His 35 3-pointers was second on the squad.

Hampton poured in 38 points during a win over Rio Hondo in recording the third highest single-game scoring total by a Lancer since 1990.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound shooter from Dorsey High (Los Angeles) finished tied for 25th place on the current PCC all-time scoring list. He netted 827 career points in 50 games (16.5 average) to tie him with Horace Wormely (2001-2003). Ironically, his 2009-2010 teammate Elliott Berry (now at UC Riverside) is right ahead of him in 24th place at 829 points.

Sophomore transfer center-forward Josh Johnson was an All-SCC honorable mention thanks to his strong play in conference-only games. Johnson averaged 15.4 points and 9.8 rebounds in 13 conference games. Overall, he compiled 10.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per contest. His 190 total rebounds led the team as did his brilliant .803 free throw percentage (53 of 66 attempts).

Johnson, a 6-foot-6 performer, is the son of former UCLA and NBA great Marques Johnson.

Marcus Harvey, a 6-foot-6 post player from Pasadena High, didn't receive conference recognition in his two seasons at PCC, but the center-forward put up strong numbers in his Lancers' career. Although he appeared in only 45 games due to injuries, he averaged 10.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.2 steals. His .541 shooting percentage led the team this past season and he was the team's average rebound leader in both of his seasons.

The men's basketball team is coached by Mike Swanegan, who completed his fourth season at PCC.
