Men's Relay Teams Perform Well In Track/Field Competition
At the Cal State Northridge CSUN Invitational March 12, the Pasadena City College men's track and field team put up strong times in three relay events.
Coach Larry Wade's Lancers posted the state's sixth fastest mark in both the 4x100 meter relay and 4x400 relay events. The 4x100 foursome of Marques Stanley, Stephen Peevy, Mark Booker, and Korey Brown took third overall with a 41.89 seconds time, trailing only Mt. San Antonio (41.55) and Cal State Bakersfield (41.80).
In the 4x400 relay, the PCC troop of Eddie Tripp, Peevy, Stanley and anchor Booker won the Section 2 Heat (seventh overall) with a 3:20.52 mark. That is also the community colleges' current sixth fastest time.
The 4x200 relay team of Stanley, Peevy, Booker and Brown placed second overall at CSUN on a 1:27.39 finish.
At the Occidental College Distance Carnival March 11, sophomore middle distance runner Richard Zarazua took 11th in the 1,500 meters at 3:59.14 (eighth fastest in the state). In the coed 10,000 meters against 4-year university racers, Wil Zentmyer was 19th overall in a time of 33:29.50 (eighth in the state listings) and Herminio Flores was 29th (34:20.27).
At the CSUN Invite, Zarazua was eighth overall in the 800 meters with a solid 1:57.05 mark.
