Sophomore utility infielder Jose Serna and freshman catcher Jason Clark were voted by the coaches on to the 2011 All-South Coast Conference Second Team in a post-conference meeting held Thursday at Mt. San Antonio College.

PCC concluded the season with a 10-24 overall record and eighth-place finish in the SCC at 5-16 in conference games. The Lancers were swept in the final 3-game series by East Los Angeles, a team that advanced to the regional playoffs along with South Coast champion Cerritos College.

Serna, a two-year starter, was the team's batting champion for the second consecutive season. He hit .368 overall and .382 in conference as he was on the SCC's top 10 batters list all year. Overall, Serna drove in 15 RBI with one home run, seven doubles, while leading the team in both on-base percentage (.467) and slugging percentage (.491).

Serna (from Los Angeles Roosevelt High) also was voted to the conference's inaugural SCC All-Defensive team at catcher while also playing first base and third base during the regular season. The versatile Serna made just two errors in conference play in 134 chances (.985 fielding percentage).

"Serna is a consummate gamer, who played through injuries and didn't let those hamper his play," PCC Head Coach Evan O'Meara said. "He's an underrated defensive player because everyone knows him to be a dangerous batter. I've had few players in my time at PCC get as many clutch hits as Jose."

Clark, a product of Duarte High, allowed O'Meara the luxury of moving Serna around the infield on defense. The first-year starter batted .333 overall with seven doubles and team-leading 20 RBI. He hit .301 with 13 ribbies during conference games. On defense, Clark threw out 12 runners trying to steal.

PCC's conference honorable mentions were sophomore relief pitcher A.J. Smouse (4.78 ERA, two saves, one win), letterman outfielder Ahmed Razi (.317 overall), and frosh pitcher Kevin Gute (3-1, team-leading 2.94 ERA and two saves).
