Football QB Posthuma Named SCFA Offensive Player of the Week
Freshman quarterback Justin Posthuma was named SCFA National Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week after his five-touchdown passing performance in Pasadena City College's 49-28, season-opening football victory over Glendale Sept. 3.
Posthuma completed 18 of 22 passes for 323 yards and entered the PCC record book by completing the longest pass in school history, a 96-yard TD connection with wide receiver Jose Rodriguez in the second quarter.
The St. Francis High graduate carried two times for 29 yards and showed his ability to escape the pass rush as he avoided being sacked on several occasions while still being able to complete passes. On the final play of the first half, Posthuma got out of the grasp of a Glendale tackler and then found wide receiver Jameel Hasan for a 20-yard touchdown throw in the back of the end zone.
Posthuma will lead the 1-0 Lancers this Saturday, Sept. 10 against visiting 1-0 Allan Hancock College (from Santa Maria). The Bulldogs defeated Santa Barbara City College, 33-14, in their home season opener. Kickoff at Robinson Stadium is 6 p.m.
