Softball's Danielle Lugo Joins Other PCC Alumnae At Morgan State University
Danielle Lugo, a sophomore first baseman on the Pasadena City College women's softball team, signed a scholarship to attend Morgan State University. Lugo will join 2009 PCC alumnae in Amber Frame and Tiffany Rubin at the Baltimore, Md. college.
PCC's first-year head coach Brittany Williams, who coached Lugo as an assistant on the 2011 team, announced the news this week as she begins recruitment for the 2012 Lancers.
Lugo was one of PCC's top hitters last season as she batted .330 with a team-leading 19 runs scored. Lugo, a left-handed thrower and batter, added two home runs and 18 RBI and a .970 fielding percentage.
Frame, an All-South Coast Conference player two years ago for PCC, has established herself as a premier catcher-third baseman for Morgan State. Frame batted .342 with three home runs and 23 RBI. The then junior slugger was a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week (April 25) for the Lady Bears. Rubin, a sophomore after playing one season for the Lancers, was Morgan State's regular shortstop, batting .243 with one homer, 23 RBI, and a team-leading 80 defensive assists.
