Women's Soccer Pulls Out 2-2 Tie With Harbor
Two goals just three minutes apart late in the first half helped the Pasadena City College women's soccer team rally for a 2-2 tie against Los Angeles Harbor College Tuesday in a South Coast Conference game at Robinson Stadium.
The Lancers (4-3-3 overall, 1-1-1 in conference) trailed Harbor, 2-0, when frosh forward Vanessa Capra turned a cross pass from freshman Nichole Washburn and lifted a shot into the right corner for her fifth goal of the season in the 40th minute. Just three minutes later, PCC knotted things as sophomore Joleen Galeazzi-Pimentel sifted through a log jam in the goalie box following a corner kick by Alexandra Dreves and punched in a goal.
LA Harbor (4-5-1, 0-2-1) outshot PCC, 12-10, and pressured the Lancers often in the PCC zone. Rookie defender Hallie White made several long clearing kicks in helping sophomore goalie Jessica Capra (three saves) and preventing the Seahawks' from scoring opportunities during the second half.
Both of the Seahawks goals were scored by Alejandra Castaneda in the 22nd and 39th minutes.
With 14 minutes left, White had PCC's best chance to grab a lead, but her 25-yard shot was tipped away by Harbor goalie Natalie Zorro-Anaya.
In a match played Sept. 30 at Cerritos College, PCC lost to the nation's top-ranked Falcons, 5-1. Alexandria Nomura scored the Lancers' lone goal.
PCC next travels to face East Los Angeles College Friday, October 7 in a 4 p.m. SCC match.
