Sports in the NewsWomen's Volleyball Breezes Past Cerritos
The state's No. 6-ranked Pasadena City College women's volleyball team improved to 3-0 in the South Coast Conference behind a sweep over Cerritos College, 25-17, 25-15, 25-23, Friday night at Gahr High School. The Lancers (11-1 overall) spread out the offense with conference kills leader Ella Moe leading the way on 15 kills. Hawaii product Anolani Ramos-McCorriston (pictured) added 10 kills while Jackie Valle-Acosta had seven kills and three solo blocks. Setter Jessica Xu contributed five kills and 21 assists and setter Kailey Faust passed out 18 assists. PCC will host Los Angeles Harbor College next Wednesday, October 12 in a 6 p.m. conference match at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. Since the beginning of the 2009 season, the Lancers have been a state power, winning 56 of their last 64 matches. In SCC play, the team is 31-2 over the same period.
