Sports in the NewsEight Players Net Goals In WWP's 20-8 Win Over Trade Tech
The Pasadena City College women's water polo team jumped out to a 13-0 lead during the first half and went on to rout host Los Angeles Trade Tech College, 20-8, in a South Coast Conference game Wednesday. The Lancers improved to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in the SCC while Trade Tech is winless this year at 0-7, 0-5. Against the Techsters, Paloma Barrera was a perfect 5-for-5 on shot attempts for a team-high five goals. Makenzie Blank added four goals and three steals. Both Taylor Guidera and Lauren D'Angelo tallied three goals. Giselle Mendieta contributed two goals. Miline Minassians, Catherine Velasco, and Rebecca Iraheta each scored one goal. Goalie Shelby Gregg made eight saves while goalie Naoni Padilla dished out three assists in the field and made five saves. PCC converted 65 percent of its scoring opportunities (20-for-31 shots). Winners of their last two games, the Lancers next play four matches at the Citrus College Tournament Friday-Saturday, Oct. 14-15. PCC faces Santa Monica (8 a.m.) and LA Valley (1 p.m.) the first day, then finish with El Camino (9:15 a.m.) and host Citrus (1 p.m.) on day two.
