Football Jumps To No. 14 In Regional Rankings image

Behind a 30-20 upset win over previously undefeated Fullerton Saturday, the Pasadena City College football team went from unranked to No. 14 on this week's CCCAA state regional Top 20 poll.

The Lancers (3-3) now will have to tackle the SCFA No. 1-ranked team and the nation's No. 4 Saddleback College (6-0) this Saturday, Oct. 22 in Mission Viejo.

Pasadena sophomore lineman Pone Faleofa (pictured) was named the SCFA National Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Fullerton. Faleofa, considered by scouts as a Division I university prospect, made three sacks and six tackles overall. He forced a fumble that helped set up a PCC touchdown. The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Faleofa is from Antioch where he attended Deer Valley High.

The Lancers are in the SCFA top 10 statistically for team offense and team defense. Only Riverside and El Camino are the other teams to make that claim. PCC is ninth in offense at 414.5 yards per game while No. 10 in defense at 320 yards average allowed.

Letterman wide receiver Wayne Peters continues to lead the state in receptions, now with 50 catches. Peters is also fourth in the state in all-purpose yardage after totaling 206 yards in receiving, rushing, punt returns, and kick returns against Fullerton.
