Joseph Helps Volleyball Sweep ELAC
Making the switch to outside hitter, Yanise Joseph pounded down her season-high 15 kills in helping the state's No. 6-ranked Pasadena City College women's volleyball team sweep host East Los Angeles College, 25-19, 25-19, 25-16, in a South Coast Conference match Wednesday night.
Joseph, a 6-foot freshman from Palisades Charter High who had played primarily at opposite prior to this match, was part of a lineup change promised by PCC Head Coach Tammy Silva after the Lancers were swept by No. 4 El Camino on Oct. 14.
Sophomore Ella Moe, the South Coast Conference leader in kills average at 3.5 per game, added eight kills while frosh middle blocker Jackie Valle-Acosta added seven kills. Sophomore libero Jessica Vargas made 10 digs. The team completed its seventh sweep of the year.
You have to go back to Nov. 3, 2006 for the last time that ELAC defeated Pasadena. Since Silva became head coach in 2007, the Lancers are 9-0 v. the Huskies, the last eight by 3-game sweep.
The Lancers improved to 13-2 overall and 5-1 in the SCC. This Friday, Oct. 21, PCC plays at conference cellar dwellar LA Trade Tech in a 7 p.m. match.
