Sports in the NewsVolleyball Speeds Past Trade Tech, 3-0
For two games Friday night, the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team resembled more of the squad that has built a No. 6 spot in the state Top 25 rankings. PCC went with an all-freshmen lineup in the final game and easily swept past host Los Angeles Trade Tech College, 25-11, 25-10, 25-18, in a South Coast Conference match. The Lancers finished the first round of SCC play at 6-1, and are in second place in the conference after first-place El Camino (7-0) went five games to beat now third place Mt. San Antonio (5-2). PCC improved to 14-2 overall. Sophomore outside hitter Ella Moe slammed 10 kills in just 14 attempts with no errors. Middle blocker Jackie Valle-Acosta added nine kills while sophomore setter Jessica Xu (pictured) handed out 24 assists in just two sets of action. Sophomore middle blocker Stacey Diaz contributed a season-high seven kills. PCC next hosts Long Beach City College Wednesday, Oct. 26 in a 6 p.m. match at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
