Women's Basketball Hosts Veteran's Day Classic Nov. 11-13
The Pasadena City College women's basketball team hosts the 2011-2012 season-opening Veteran's Day Classic Friday-Sunday, Nov. 11-13 at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
The Lancers participate in the eight-team tourney with Citrus, Chaffey, Cypress, Irvine Valley, LA Southwest, Southwestern, and Taft Colleges. PCC's season opener will be against Citrus on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.
PCC returns six players from its 2010-2011 squad that finished 24-6 and in second place in the South Coast Conference. The Lancers advanced as far as the third round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs, missing on advancing to the CCCAA State Tournament for the first time since 2003.
Among PCC's returners are forward are All-SCC Second Team forward Marquetta Stokes and forward-center Tonisha Lacey.
PCC Head Coach Joe Peron begins his 16th season in charge of the program. Peron has amassed 373 victories and a .794 winning percentage. The Lancers won the first-ever women's state team title in any sport in 2009. Peron, who has coached six conference champion teams, is looking for the team's first SCC title since 2007.
Tickets for the Veteran's Day Classic can be purchased at the HP Gym front door for $5 each day and $10 for an entire weekend pass. Students with a ASB activity card and children under 12 are free. For more information, contact the women's basketball office at 626-585-7782.
