The Pasadena City College men's basketball team opens the 2011-2012 season Thursday, Nov. 10 when the Lancers face Antelope Valley in a 5 p.m. game at the Ventura College "We Play Hard" Tournament.

PCC continues in the double-elimination, eight-team tourney on Friday, Nov. 11 and hope to make it to the championship round on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The Lancers have an entirely brand new, 14-player roster under head coach Mike Swanegan, in his fifth season at PCC. PCC returns no one from the 2010-2011 squad that finished a disappointing 7-19 and fifth place in the South Coast Conference North Division.

Coach Swanegan has added two new assistant coaches to go with holdover Jesse Ellis. Hosie Ward, a veteran coach at College of the Canyons and Santa Monica College, joins the staff along with T.J. Lucero, who was an assistant at LA Valley College.

"We wanted to start from scratch," Swanegan said of the new roster. "We have a few transfers with experience, so we expect to compete right away. This is an opportunity to mold the 12 young freshmen we have and build on their talents."

The Lancers begin their home schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 15 with a 6 p.m. contest against Southwestern College.
