Sports in the NewsMen's Hoops Edges Miramar, 76-74
The Pasadena City College men's basketball team advanced to the consolation final of the Ventura College "We Play Hard" Tournament behind a 76-74 win over Miramar College Friday. The Lancers face Orange Coast College Saturday, Nov. 12 in a 1 p.m. game for fifth place. Pasadena (1-1) once again rode the hot shooting of sophomore transfer guard Givon Crump, who scored 32 points. Crump gave PCC the lead in the final minute, 75-74, by hitting a pair of free throws. The Lancers' strong free throw shooting overall--sank 20 of 22 attempts--was a big factor in the PCC triumph. Marquise Tolson added 13 points and grabbed five rebounds. Pasadena also shot better than 50 percent from 3-point land, making 10 of 19 shots beyond the circle.
