Kirakosyan, Tarui Earn All-SCC Men's Soccer Honors
Sophomores Gor Kirakosyan and Ryosuke Tarui, Pasadena City College's top two playmakers, were selected to the 2011 All-South Coast Conference Teams by conference coaches.
Kirakosyan, who led the Lancers with 14 goals and six assists, and Tarui, who had four goals and five assists, were consistent performers on a team that didn't meet expectations at 7-10-4 overall and placed seventh in the powerful SCC.
An All-SCC First Team selection, Kirakosyan, a forward from Burbank High, finishes tied for fifth on the Lancers all-time points scorers list with 19 career goals and eight assists. He was the team leading goal scorer with five as a freshman two seasons ago. He sat out last season. Kirakosyan created many scoring chances with his strong and quick release on kicks from short and long distances. He also was considered one of the fastest players in the conference.
Tarui, an international student from Kansai University in Osaka, Japan, was one of the league's most skilled midfielders and was chosen All-SCC Second Team. A letterman, Tarui played on both of PCC second-year head coach Edgar Manvelyan's teams in 2010 and this season.
Freshman Irving Rosales, who tied Kirakosyan with 14 goals this year, took a conference honorable mention.
