Moore Delivers Two Ways As Softball Goes To 2-0 In SCC
Sophomore Kayla Moore is both the Pasadena City College softball team's pitching ace and top hitter this season. Moore continued excelling in both areas Thursday when she batted 3-for-3, scored three runs, and twirled a complete-game, 4-hitter in the Lancers' 7-1 win at El Camino College-Compton Center.
Moore improved her overall pitching record to 4-5 and lowered her ERA to 2.57 as PCC is off to a strong 2-0 start in South Coast Conference play. The Lancers improved their overall record to 5-7 under first-year head coach Brittany Williams.
Moore is batting .400 and also leads the team in stolen bases with six swipes.
Against Compton (2-6, 0-2), the Lancers scored three runs in the first and three more in the third inning. Third baseman Ilene Suleymanyan and first baseman Natalie Ficocelli each knocked in two RBI. Suleymanyan, the team's RBI leader with 11, and shortstop Maddy GIanoli each drew two walks as PCC reached base seven times on free passes.
On Tuesday, Feb. 21, the Lancers return to the field to play at Los Angeles Harbor College in a 3 p.m. conference start.
