Football's 2012 Schedule Released
The Southern California Football Association (SCFA) officially released the 2012 schedule today as the dates and times for Pasadena City College football games are now set.
Under the direction of second-year head coach Fred Fimbres, the Lancers open the season with a non-conference afternoon game (1 p.m.) at Citrus Colllege on Saturday, Sept. 1. The matinee is surprisingly only the first meeting between PCC and Citrus since 1973 when the Owls blanked the Lancers, 29-0.
Pasadena begins its 5-game home slate with a 6 p.m. contest the following week (Sept. 8) against Orange Coast. All PCC home games will have 6 p.m. kickoffs and are played on campus at Robinson Stadium.
The Lancers, who returned to the National Northern Conference this season after two years in the National Southern Conference, start their 6-game NNC schedule on Sept. 22 when they visit College of the Canyons at 7 p.m.
Only two opponents from last year's schedule will play PCC this season--Allan Hancock (Oct. 20 at home) and Ventura (Nov. 3 on the road, 6 p.m.). Long-time rival Mt. San Antonio is not on the schedule and that breaks a streak of 27 consecutive seasons that PCC faced the Mounties.
Pasadena plays v. four teams that were regulars in the old Mission Conference (1988-2007) in Orange Coast, El Camino (Sept. 15 at home), Cerritos (Sept. 29 at home), and Golden West (Oct. 6 on the road, 7 p.m.). Cerritos is the only one of the four that is a NNC matchup.
PCC's final game of the season is Nov. 10 at Bakersfield, but the Renegades have yet to set a time for that contest. The Lancers will take their bye week on Oct. 27, the latest date the program has been scheduled off in school history.
