Tenia Sebastian put herself among the state's top contenders in the 400 hurdles as the Pasadena City College women's track and field sprinter raced the current fourth fastest state time at the Cal State Los Angeles Tommy Lister Classic held April 7.

Racing against 4-year university and club hurdlers, the sophomore Sebastian took third place overall in the 400 hurdles with a season-best 1:04.33 mark.

In the men's competition, the squad of Devin Rojas, Ron Spears, Robert Pachorek, and Keiton Winston raced to second place in the 4x100 meter relay, just being edged by Cal State LA's squad at 41.33 to 41.68. The Lancers now own the fifth fastest state time in the event.

Ismail Naeem placed second in the triple jump (45 feet, 3.5 inches), which put him in the state top 20 in the 18th position. Naeem's fifth place in the high jump at 6-3.5 is now 16th in the state in that event. Naeem is a product of Arcadia High.

Luis Dorantes won his heat in the 800 meters and placed 16th overall at the meet with a 2:01.48 time. Alfredo Folgar placed fourth overall in the 1,500 meters with a community college best time (at the meet only) of 4:00.95. Dorantes, who holds the state's fastest 10,000 meter mark, took fifth at the meet in the 3,000 meters on a mark of 8:53.72 (now 17th in the state).

Caleb Wood placed fifth in the javelin at 168-2 and 14th in the discus at 137-8.

In the women's competition, Diane Lombardi took seventh in the 1,500 meters (4:55.93) and teammate Elizabeth Lyons was 12th (5:00 even). Lyons was 15th overall in the 3,000 meters (11:06.61), an event that was won by former Lancer Tracee van der Wyk, who running unattached, posted a 10:24.16 finish.
