PCC Football IntraSquad Scrimmage Thursday At Robinson Stadium
The Pasadena City College football team will be in action Thursday, Aug. 23 in its Cardinal and White intrasquad scrimmage held at Robinson Stadium. The scrimmage takes place between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and attendance is free to the public.
The 2012 Lancers are directed by second-year head coach Fred Fimbres. With his first true off-season of recruiting under his belt after being hired shortly before the 2011 season, PCC is expected to strongly compete in the National Northern Conference.
Justin Posthuma, who took a medical redshirt last year after being injured in the second game, returns to quarterback the Lancers this season. Posthuma passed for 323 yards and five touchdowns in a season-opening victory over Glendale. In that game, he broke a 55-year-old PCC record for longest pass completion, a touchdown totaling 96 yards.
All-Conference Second Team linebacker Mike Sepulveda (57 tackles) returns from last year along with fellow linebacker Bryan Luna (51 tackles) and defensive lineman Dean Bisterfeldt (24 tackles, two sacks).
The recruiting class includes All-CIF South East Division selection Zander Anding, a running back from Burbank Burroughs High, Trayvon Watson, a heralded safety from Los Angeles West Adams Prep who had 131 tackles and six interceptions as a senior, and Javon McElroy-Bradford, an All-Marine League First Team defensive force from Washington Prep (Los Angeles) who is slated to play linebacker for the Lancers.
"We have an abundance of incoming talent to go with some key players returning from last year," Fimbres said. "We'll get a better idea about our depth chart and who can impress our coaches during the scrimmage."
Pasadena opens the 2012 season Saturday, September 1 at Citrus College. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
