The statistics tell it all. In the last two matches, the Pasadena City College women's soccer team has outshot the opponents a combined 51-5, and outscored them, 9-1. On Friday evening, the Lancers put on an offensive clinic as frosh forward Nancy Nunez scored the hat trick in a 6-0 blowout over College of the Desert in a non-conference match at Robinson Stadium.

Playing their first three matches on their home field, the Lancers are undefeated at 2-0-1 under third-year head coach Randy Lilavois. Against COD (0-3), Pasadena totaled 30 shots to just two by the Roadrunners. PCC goalie Tatiana Sanchez (Burroughs High) barely broke a sweat with one easy save late in the first half for her first collegiate shutout.

Nunez, from Ramona Convent Secondary School, gave PCC all the scoring it would need in the third minute, driving in an 18-yard attempt on a lead pass by Vanessa Capra. In the 30th minute, Nunez rifled in a 25-yard shot on an assist by Lizbeth Rodriguez (Sierra Vista HS). In the 63rd minute, Nunez completed her 3-goal night with a 28-yard bomb high over the goalie's head. It was her fourth goal of the season.

Also lighting the scoreboard for PCC were Adriani Andrews (Foshay LC), on a header goal from a cross by Cassandra Saavedra (Alverno) in the 41st minute; Hallie White (sophomore, Burroughs) on a redirect from a corner kick by Daniella Busta (Crescenta Valley) in the 53rd minute; and Capra (sophomore, Eagle Rock), who put some English on a 23-yard shot from a side angle that finished of the scoring onslaught in the 68th minute.

"I feel we have two tremendous scoring forwards in Nunez and our returner Capra," Lilavois said. "We did a better job of finishing off our shots. Nunez really drove the ball with authority on some longer attempts. We were able to play most of our bench and get to see some of our reserves get their first taste of collegiate soccer. We established complete territorial advantage in the past two victories."

Nunez is the first Lancer to score three goals in a game since Stephanie Hernandez did it on Sept. 26, 2010 v. Los Angeles Valley College. The three most recent PCC hat tricks prior to that were performed in 2008 by Melissa Fudge (twice, including a four-goal game) and Cindy Aguilon.

PCC will go on the road for the first time in 2012 when it faces Santa Monica College on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 3 p.m.
