Women's Water Polo Routs LA Trade Tech, 13-4
The Pasadena City College women's water polo team finally reached the win column in South Coast Conference play in 2012 with a resounding 13-4 victory at Los Angeles Trade Tech. The Lancers improved to 5-13 overall and 1-5 in SCC games.
Pasadena took a commanding 6-0 lead after one quarter and held a 10-0 lead before LA Trade scored its first goal with less than three minutes left before halftime. The Lancers' 13 goals is a team season high.
PCC head coach Terry Stoddard utilized his roster as eight different players made assists and 10 players contributed to the team's 15 steals.
Lauren D'Angelo, a sophomore reserve, played the whole contest and had her finest game as a Lancer with four goals (just six attempts), two assists and three steals. Makenzie Blank was a perfect 4-for-4 on goal attempts. Milene Minassians added two goals and three assists. D'Angelo, and freshmen Yukiyo Ueda and Paige Watroba all scored their first goals of the season while Naoni Padilla picked up just her second goal.
The Lancers were an outstanding 6-for-7 on power play advantages. Goalie Shelby Gregg totaled 12 saves in protecting the PCC cage.
PCC plays at the Battle of the Beach Tournament hosted by Long Beach City and Cypress College on Friday-Saturday, October 19-20.
