Eleven different Lancers made at least one field goal as the Pasadena City College men's basketball team blew out Cypress, 101-74, to take third place at the 40th Santa Barbara City College Classic Saturday.

Pasadena (3-6 overall) shot 54.1 percent from the floor, converting 40 of 74 shots, and had equally strong team performances from the 3-point circle (9-of-19) and free throw line (12-for-13, 92.3 percent).

Frosh guard Gary Matthews (Whittier High, pictured) took advantage of a rare start by leading the Lancers in scoring with 22 points. Matthews was 9-for-12 from the field, including three 3-pointers. Sophomore forward Marquise Tolson had his best game of the year, scoring 20 points (9-for-14 from the floor) while All-SBCC Classic Tournament selection and redshirt letterman guard Mike Swanegan sank five 3s as part of his 17 points (and four assists).

Freshman forward Bryce Clifton added 12 points and sophomore point guard Chris Smith contributed nine points, six rebounds and four assists. Evan Brooks, Alec Tatum, Steven Shares, Tramel McClough, Lorelle Martin, and Samuel Stirgus all made at least a field goal as PCC head coach Michael Swanegan emptied his bench.

PCC reached the century mark in scoring for just the 10th time since 1997.

On Friday, Dec. 14, the Lancers play a non-conference game at Southwestern College. Tip-off is 5 p.m.
