Men's Track Wins Own Pasadena Relays
Led by an impressive first place by the 4x400 meter relay squad, the Pasadena City College men's track and field team won five events and took first place in the team scoring at the Pasadena Relays held Feb. 22 at Robinson Stadium.
The 4x400 relay unit of Chineek Favors, Bryant Johnson, Tywon White, and Christian White raced a 3:19.02, third fastest in the state. The Lancers also have the second fastest time of 3:18.30 set at the Cerritos Invitational.
In the 4x1,600 relay, Faustino Gil, Kevin Cano, Brendan Greene and Francis Lee recorded a win with an 18:37.86 time in an exciting dual with El Camino (18:39 flat). The Lancers also picked up wins in the 4x400 shuttle hurdle relay (3:47.69) and 4x110 shuttle hurdle relay (1:04.20). On the field side, Fharhaad Zinnamon won the triple jump with a leap of 44 feet, 1 inch.
In another dramatic finish, Mt. San Antonio edged out PCC by just 0.35 of a second in the 4x200 relay. That Lancers squad (1:30.11) was made up of Keiton Winston, Derrick Shephered, Tywon White, and Favors.
"We were mixing and matching the runners in all the relays, so it was pretty satisfying to see us do so well in front of a home crowd," PCC head coach Larry Wade said.
Both of PCC's teams will participate at the UNLV Invitational at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas on March 1-2.
