Football Overpowered by Canyons In NNC Opener
In the history of Pasadena City College football, the Lancers have faced 53 California Community College opponents. PCC has beaten all of them, but one. College of the Canyons continued to be that elusive combatant as the Cougars moved to 6-0 in their all-time series v. the Lancers with a resounding 54-10 triumph at Robinson Stadium Saturday night.
In the SCFA National Northern Conference opener for both teams, PCC stayed winless at 0-4 while the regionally-ranked No. 7 Canyons improved to 3-1.
The Cougars amassed 32 first downs and totaled 530 offensive yards. COC quarterback Jake Dashnaw completed 15 of 20 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns and added a 12-yard scoring run.
Offensively, PCC running back Marciss Grigsby carried 11 times for 94 yards. Receiver J. Turner Jackson caught four passes for 22 yards, but totaled 189 all-purpose yards overall thanks to five kick returns. The longest was a 42-yard return.
The Lancers travel to face Cerritos College next Saturday, October 5 in a 7 p.m. conference contest.
