Volleyball Sweeps LA Harbor To Open SCC Schedule
The Pasadena City College women's volleyball team opened defense of its co-South Coast Conference title of a year ago by sweeping host Los Angeles Harbor College, 25-8, 25-16, 25-19, Friday night. Rated No. 25 in the most recent state rankings, the Lancers improved to 3-7 overall.
Sophomore outside hitter Nora To'omalatai slammed 17 kills and added two service aces. Freshman middle blocker Kendra Logan added six kills and three blocks while frosh middle blocker Angela Banuelos (Monrovia High, pictured) contributed seven kills and two aces.
In the opening set, To'omalatai served as PCC recorded seven straight points on one side out to take an 11-4 lead. In the next game, the Lancers went ahead 21-10 and coasted. A Baneulos kill in game three finished off the Lancers' tidy victory.
Pasadena hosts Long Beach City College on Wednesday, October 9 in a 6 p.m. conference match at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
